Psychoanalytic Referral Service

The Seattle Psychoanalytic Society and Institute (SPSI) trains mental health clinicians to provide psychoanalytic treatment, and trains researchers in the application of psychoanalytic theory to various social settings. SPSI serves individuals and organizations in the community through educational outreach, consultation, research, and reduced fee psychoanalytic treatment.
SPSI, a not-for-profit corporation, is governed by a Board of Directors.

Continuing Education

The concepts derived from psychoanalytic theory and practice has application in many areas of human endeavor. The Continuing Education Committee offers colloquia, symposia, lectures, workshops and seminars for the members of the Institute and for individuals and groups in the community. The Committee strives to present those programs which are not currently available in the community such as (but not limited to): child and adolescent psychoanalytic theories and process; contemporary and historical psychoanalytic theories and practices; applied psychoanalysis, such as an examination of the impact of culture, race, gender, sexual orientation and the arts to psychoanalysis.

Instructors include SPSI faculty members and clinical associates, as well as prominent psychoanalysts from this country and abroad. Although no degree or certification is granted by the Committee, these offerings provide unique opportunities for continuing education and enhancement of creativity and work.

Continuing Education credits in medicine, psychology, nursing, social work, etc. are available.
