A psychoanalytic perspective deepens our experience of the arts, culture and society

Spsi In The Community

Psychoanalysis and Visual Art

Psychoanalytic Perspectives on Visual Art events are intended to promote discussion about the creative process, and are designed for artists, mental health professionals, and the general community. We invite a local artist to present his or her work, with a psychoanalyst to discuss the art and encourage audience discourse. These events are free with donations encouraged to cover the costs of refreshments.

Opera on the Couch

Opera on the Couch (OOC) is a discussion group dedicated to discovering and understanding human behavior as portrayed in the operas produced by the Seattle Opera. OOC explores the ways in which opera offers emotional, intellectual, and aesthetic food for thought which can deepen our experience and understanding of humanity. The program is enriched by support and advice from a committee of community music volunteers.

OOC events are held in private homes and are free of charge with donations encouraged to cover the costs of refreshments. All opera lovers are welcome to join the group.
